DescriptionThis series consists of Charlotte Jackson Soares's Master's dissertation, "Memories of Ibstock Place, Roehampton, the life history of a house, built 1913 (Now Ibstock Place School)" and research in support of it. It includes photographs and audio interviews. Summary excerpted from the dissertation: "This dissertation traces the history of Ibstock Place from house, requisitioned wartime workplace, to boarding and day school, recounting changes of use and meaning to individuals inhabiting it. Themes taken from the charity Common Ground, help identify what makes a place meaningful. Their concept of local distinctiveness proves to be relevant in what makes a place memorable. The work of Peter Read, Ronald Fraser and Christopher Day are used to explore spirit of place and the meaning of lost landscapes in relation to Ibstock informants."
