| Description | This series contains a rich variety of material created and collected mostly by students of Froebel Educational Institute, but also by students of Bishopslea School in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia; Cheltenham Training College; Ibstock Place school; Montessori Institute in Ladbroke Grove; Sesame House; Stockwell Training College; Rachel McMillan Training College and University of Leicester. Sub-series that include the word "coursework" in the title contain only documents created as a student. Among the types of material present in this series are the following: booklets, brochures, certificates, correspondence, diaries, dissertations, dried flowers (i.e., pressed flowers), dried leaves, badger hair, essays, examination questions, letters of reference (i.e., testimonials), notebooks, obituaries, original botanical illustrations, original diagrams, original photography, other original illustrations, pamphlets, poems, press cuttings, prospectuses, reminiscences, report cards, sheet music, syllabuses, teacher's certificates, theses, topographical maps, tuition receipts, and work logs. It includes samples of Froebel's gifts and occupations, including drawing (including curve lines and linear drawings), mat plaiting, needlework, paper folding, papercutting, stick laying, and twisting. In addition to Froebelian topics, such as health education, music, nature study and play, the following topics appear frequently throughout the series: birds, child care, children's literature, Friedrich Froebel, games, geography, maths, physical education, principles of education, psychology, reading and literacy, religion and teacher practice.
