Description | This series consists of the papers of Molly Brearley, Principal of Froebel Educational Institute between 1955 and 1970. It includes notes; lectures; papers; speeches; examination reviews; conferences proceedings, including "Discovering and Satisfying the Learning Needs of 4-8 Year Old Children" held by the Warwickshire County Council; scripts and other documents acquired as a result of participating in BBC programs; documents acquired as a result of visit to Vancouver, Canada; correspondence; and an assortment of press cuttings, journal articles and pamphlets written by Molly Brearley and others. The BBC programs Ms. Brearley took part in included Springs of Learning" (1966) and a program on child development and psychology (1975). Ms. Brearley wrote examiner's reports for the following schools: College of St. Matthias, University of Bristol, Padgate Training College, Brighton Training College, St. Kats Training College, St. Gals Training College, Eastbourne Training College, Southlands Training College and the University of Leeds.Correspondence includes farewell correspondence upon her retirement from Froebel Educational Institute, and letters from the following correspondents: Joachim Liebschner; Michael Darlow regarding the shooting of a film about Froebel at Moorlands, Mr. Montefiore regarding Sir David Eccles' letter to training colleges; Constance Echlin, Elizabeth Linnell of the Offley Old Student's Association, Ursula Alexander of St. Leonard's Nursery School in Edinburgh and John Howard of Westlin. Of note, the folder labelled "Letters" including reviews of book and television programs written by Brearley. Speeches and addresses cover a range of topics, including "language, speech and vocabulary," and were presented at a variety of events, including assemblies, Speech Days, Parent Teachers Association (PTA), student graduations, a meeting of the Plowden committee and a meeting of the Froebel Education Institution Association. Miscellaneous documents include Bedford College forms, Froebel Educational Institute Honours Discussion, Froebel Educational Institute prospectus notes, National Froebel Foundation trainer's diploma notes, bibliographies, notes regarding a Michaelis Guild meeting 1983 and obituaries for a variety of people, including Nathan Isaacs, B.
