Description | The file consists of three large letter size notebooks (numbered No. 1 to 3) with press cuttings and images from various sources following the career of Margot Fonteyn. Scrapbook No.1 includes a handwritten transcript of an article by Cyril Beaumont. The sources and dates of most press cuttings and images have not been included.
The volumes are wrapped in brown wrapping paper and fastened with cello-tape. Each binding has been decorated with one portrait of Margot Fonteyn. Press cuttings on the inside of the binding pages have been fixed with cello-tape. Inside the volumes press cuttings and images have been glued to the surface. Great care has been taken to the general layout and positioning as well as inscription. |

Administrative History | Dame Margot Fonteyn de Arias, DBE (1919 - 1991), an English born ballet dancer who dominated the British ballet scene for 40 years. She spent her entire career with the Royal Ballet, formerly Sadler's Wells Ballet Company. She was appointed Prima Ballerina Assoluta by HR Queen Elizabeth II in 1979 and is regarded as one of the greatest classical ballet dancers of all time. |
