DescriptionOriginally catalogued under 5.4.6 as '14 strips of practice stitches; 2 pieces of navy felt with worked design; bonnet with border stitches (or piece of fabric so shaped to practice border designs and gathers). 19th c'. The fabric strips are sections of tapestry, each with a catalogue or pattern code of some sort, while the bonnet also features cross stitch and all items may be 20th rather than 19th century.
Custodial HistoryThese items were found with others within in a hatbox labelled 'Embroideries left to Whitelands College'. They are presumed to be course work of students at Chelsea in the latter part of the nineteenth century.
