Description | Originally catalogued under 5.4.6 as '14 strips of practice stitches; 2 pieces of navy felt with worked design; bonnet with border stitches (or piece of fabric so shaped to practice border designs and gathers). 19th c'. The fabric strips are sections of tapestry, each with a catalogue or pattern code of some sort, while the bonnet also features cross stitch and all items may be 20th rather than 19th century. |
Custodial History | These items were found with others within in a hatbox labelled 'Embroideries left to Whitelands College'.
They are presumed to be course work of students at Chelsea in the latter part of the nineteenth century. |
