File of correspondence 1970-1981 relating to the college archives, including acquisitions, death notice for Miss Mackenzie, 1979 initiative to transfer material to archives, initiative for May queens to receive advice from the V&A on how to look after their robes. Plus some correspondence with Guild branches, and re inter-college functions, and a long letter (12 typescript pages) to be printed in the Annual addressed to ‘Whitelanders’ 1 Oct 1971 after one year as principal. File labelled ‘Course and conferences’ 1970-80 [mainly relating to events held at Whitelands 1970-73] Large unlabelled file of mixed disordered correspondence, memos and notes 1970-1984, mainly relating to: staff appointments and salaries, accommodation, qualified / recognised teacher status; papers of Academic Records Committee; also some items re: resignation; leaving party for James Topping; draft annual message issue re Ed Tech/Art Dept; conferences and training courses. File labelled ‘Staff Resident 1971-79’ with papers re residential staff and tutors. Blank headed notepaper / memo slips / compliment slips. Diaries: Desk diaries 1970-84 (possibly kept by secretary, Dorothy Butler). Letters: Letter from ‘John’ in House of Lords 18 May 1987, re RIHE, and a centre of studies for Greater London. Invitation to 60th birthday celebrations.
