NotesThe Church of England Record Centre holds the archives of the National Society which has records relating to Whitelands College. There are college files for Whitelands covering the dates 1846-1964 under the reference NS/7/4/1/72-75; and a Whitelands Sub-Committee minute book and index 1847-1849 under the reference NS/2/2/35/3. With regard to the establishment of the college, the minutes of the General/Standing Committee and Executive Committee are useful. These are held under the series reference NS/2/2/1/1 and cover the establishment of Whitelands in 1841. The School Committee minute books may also be of interest as these relate to the National Society’s Central School for training teachers which had oversight of Whitelands and Chelsea St Mark when they were founded; these are held under the series reference NS/2/2/2/1.
