Description | 20th Nov 1881, sends ‘little crumbs of crystallized gold’ to put in mineral cabinet, with drawing to suggest arrangement into the shape of a cross. ‘I am thinking over what next to come in that cabinet: but I chance to be among minerals just now – and I want to have a good mineral cabinet at Whitelands before long as soon as I’ve written a grammar of crystals for you…’
24th Nov 1881, re books he is planning to send to Whitelands. ‘I’ve been looking through my books to find some more that would be nice for Whitelands – partly to get another letter! and partly because I’m ashamed to have pretty books and never use them, and practically I find that nearly all my books now get mildewed in my shelves for want of use.
‘I hope [the] one that I’m sending is pretty safe, for it has always been near me, that’s near the fire too, in my study - The Hungarian Noble’s book on the wild plants of Hungary.’
14th Dec 1882, wishes she would visit him instead of asking him to visit College.
Plus later mss transcripts of the letters.
