The file contains Labanotation scores of folk and ethnic dances from Italy, Japan, Java, Korea and Latin America. Most of the Labanotation scores are photocopies, made mid- to late-20th Century, with originals dated mid- to late-20th Century. A few of the Labanotation scores are originals, dating to mid-20th Century. The Italian dances are the following: - "La Furlana" - "Tarantella" (four Labanotated scores; two in English and two in German) The Japanese dances are the following: - Labanotation for some ways of grasping Kimono [the name of the dance is not given] - "Haru-Same" ("Spring Rain") - "Matsu no Midori" ("Pine Tree") - "Sōran Busi" or "Sōran-Bushi", fisherman's working folk dance (two Labanotated scores) - "Tanko Bushi" coal miner's dance - "Tokyo Ondo" - Descriptions of the rhythm of three dances [but no Labanotation]; two of the dances are called "Roopaka" and "Mangalam Song" [one of the dances doesn't appear to be named] - "Yakshagana" - Also includes a annotated photocopy of an annotated, typed article "Characteristics of Japanese Bon Dances in Hawaii: An Examination of Ten Dances" by Jane Knutson, Chikako Kashino, Vicky Takamine and Carlyn Tani. [The article was later published in "Dance Notation Journal" volume 5, number 1, spring 1987.] Article written c1987. Some annotations were made c1987 before the photocopy was taken.
