The file contains Labanotation scores of folk and ethnic dances from New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, and Oriental dances.
Most of the Labanotation scores are photocopies, made mid- to late-20th Century, with originals dated mid- to late-20th Century. A few of the Labanotation scores are originals, dating to late-20th Century.
The New Zealand dances are the following:
- Excerpt from "Ti Rakau" a Maori rhythm stick game
- Published article "Some Examples of Movement Notation (Kinetography Laban): A Supplement to 'The Maori Action Song'" by Jennifer Shennan, published 1985. (Includes Labanotation for leg and arm movements from Maori Action Song; "He Putiputi"; and ["Tangihia"?])
- Maori "Poi" movements
The Norwegian dance is the following:
- "Attetur" or "Asker"
The Oriental dances are the following:
- "Alarippu"
- Dance notation [but not Labanotation] of the Chinese "Double Row Dance" (this dance notation is in Chinese, with some parts translated into English)
The Filipino dance is the following:
- "Tinkling" (two Labanotated scores) |
