Description | This series consists of advertisements, invitations, and correspondence regarding lecturers external to Froebel Educational Institute. Correspondence dates from between 1954 and 1958. Advertisements are for the following lectures: “Why London is the Greatest City in the World” by J. Keltie, 1890s; “A course of twelve lectures on points in the special training of backward and mentally feeble children” by T.E. Shuttleworth, 1896; “Points in the special training of backward and mentally feeble children” by G.E. Shuttleworth, 1897; stories and story-telling by Miss Yelland, 1904; court dances of the 16th and 17th centuries by Nathalie Dolmetsch, 1956; lecture recital on “Percussion Instruments” by James Blades, 1959; and “Syllabus of lecturers on modern methods of teaching elementary mathematics” by J.G. Hamilton and F. Kettle, 1960s. Invitations are for lectures by the following people: Friedeberger, Kearton, Lady Margaret Hamilton, Patrick Geddes, Rene Papin, and Reverend W.S. Swayne. Also included in this series are the following four lectures: "Bustle" by Sir Alfred Milner, 1897; "A Welcome and a Farewell" by Claude Montefiore, 1931; "The Basic Needs" by Miss Pickard, 1949; and "Survey of the Growth of the Froebel Educational Institute over Sixty" years based on notes of an informal lecture, 1952. |
