DescriptionThe theatre plays programmes include numerous plays by Shakespeare, Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Henrik Ibsen, as well as many new contemporary plays such as 'The Old Country' by Alan Bennett from 1977. Other productions include Thornton Wilder's 'The Skin of Our Teeth' (?1946) with Vivien Leigh in the leading role, Nol Coward's 'Cavalcade' from 1933 and the 1930 J.A. Daisenberger's Oberammergau 'Passion-play' programme. Some programmes include press cuttings. Further, this sub-series contains a theatre notebook 'The Masque' for the Old Vic's 'King Lear' production dating 1946 and 1947. 'The Masque' consists of one notebook and three out of seven 'Designs for the Theatre' brochures. It was the first of the (planned) series with the purpose to give a complete insight into a production.
