DescriptionThe suitcase was created in the early- to mid-20th Century. [It was made by Revelation.] The top of the suitcase has been stamped with the initials "R.C.L." [Richmal Crompton Lamburn, also known as Richmal Crompton], which have been coloured with silver paint. Five labels have been added to the outside of the suitcase: - Two labels give the address of Ashbee [possibly Richmal Ashbee, niece of Richmal Crompton] in Chedgrave, [Norfolk]; the labels were added in the late-20th to c2000s. - Two labels give an address for EGC Ashbee [Edward Ashbee? son of Richmal Ashbee and great-nephew of Richmal Crompton]; the labels were added in the mid- to late-20th Cenutry. - One label gives the address of Ashbee [possibly Richmal Ashbee, niece of Richmal Crompton] in Chedgrave, [Norfolk], on one side and the address of EGC Ashbee [Edward Ashbee? son of Richmal Ashbee and great-nephew of Richmal Crompton] on the other side; label added in the mid- to late-20th Century. - One label doesn't give an address, but states that the suitcase was transported on Southern [Railway] from Victoria [railway station, London] to Bromley South [railway station, Kent]; the label was added in the early- to mid-20th Century. [This suitcase was used to hold some of Richmal Crompton's documents when they were deposited with Archives and Special Collections.]
