DescriptionThe satchel was created in the early- to mid-20th Century. The satchel is accompanied by a brown, leather belt, which was created in the early- to late-20th Century. [This belt may have been used at some point to wrap around the satchel to keep it closed when it was full]. [This satchel was used to hold some of Richmal Crompton's documents when they were deposited with Archives and Special Collections.]
Physical DescriptionThe satchel is 43cm x 32cm. The satchel is made of black leather, with metal fastenings [some of the metal fastenings are missing]. The inside of the satchel is lined with black fabric, which includes a small inner pocket. The satchel has a handle for carrying. It also has metal loops for a shoulder strap to be attached [though no shoulder strap is present]. The belt is made of brown leather, with a metal clasp.
