DescriptionPair of spectacles with a green, plastic frame. The frame has been stamped with the code 46X66. The spectacles were made in the c1960s. The spectacles are enclosed in a spectacle case that has been stamped with the address of [optician] RF Banks [full name not stated], FSMC [Fellow in Optometry of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers], DOrth [Diploma in Orthoptics of the British College of Ophthalmic Opticians], Petts Wood Road, [Bromley, London]. The case was made by Lesbro in the c1960s. [It is not clear if the spectacles and the spectacle case were sold by RF Banks, or if only the spectacle case was sold by RF Banks. Likewise, it is not clear if the spectacles and the spectacle case were made by Lesbro, or if only the spectacle case was made by Lesbro.] A note has been stuck inside the case, which gives the address of Lamburn [Richmal Crompton Lamburn, also known as Richmal Crompton]; this note was written [by Richmal Crompton] in the c1960s. Included within the spectacle case is: a specatacle cleaning cloth (made in the c1960s); and a note stating that the spectacles belonged to RCL [Richmal Crompton Lamburn, also known as Richmal Crompton] (note written in the c2000s).
Physical DescriptionThe spectacles consist of [glass?] lenses with green plastic frames; the hinges are made of metal. The spectacles are 13.5cm wide x 4cm high, with 13cm long arms. The case is made of metal with an outer coating of red, faux leather, and an inner coating
