Administrative HistoryAmy Elsie Watkinson (1924-2010) attended Whitelands College 1942-44, and maintained a lifelong connection. The tribute to her in the 2010 College Annual notes ‘Amy was “brought up” on Whitelands. Her mother and aunt had both attended the college when it was based in Chelsea and they and she amassed a considerable collection of Whitelands’ memorabilia. Amy bequeathed this collection to the archives at Whitelands. Amy’s interest in and loyalty to the College Guild led to a lifelong commitment. She became Year Secretary in 1947, a post she held willingly until her death…. She also became a member of the Guild Committee, becoming the Treasurer in 1955 and holding the post for 20 years. In recognition of her service, she was elected a Vice President at the AGM in 1984….. ….on her retirement and move to Aldeburgh, she revived the East Anglian Branch of the Guild, becoming the President, by popular consent, at its first formal meeting, a post she held until her death. Amy attended every meeting – some as far away as Wells-next-the-Sea…’ Charlotte Watkinson (nee Baldwin) was Amy's mother, Elsie Baldwin her aunt.
