DescriptionThe file contains the following: - Sections of Labanotated scores [created by Drid Williams?] for the ballet "Checkmate" [choreographed by Ninette de Valois]. These scores had been translated into Labanotation from a score in Benesh dance notation. Included are photocopies and handwritten sections of the Labanotated score, and a photocopy of a section of the Benesh notation score. Originals and photocopies made c1966-c1976. - Labanotated scores of some tai chi movements. Includes photocopies and handwritten scores. Originals and photocopies made c1960s-c1970s. - A typed review, by Drid Williams, of the book "The Nature of Dance: An Anthropological Perspective" by Roderyk Lange. The review was written in c1976. The file also includes related correspondence, dated c1976. [The review was published in "Dance Research Journal" in c1976.] - Typed draft article "The Anthropology of Human Movement I: 'Jargon'" by Drid Williams. The draft article was written in c1976. [It is not known if this article was ever published.] - A photocopy of published article "Curt Sachs and His Heritage: A Critical Review of 'World History of the Dance' with a Survey of Recent Studies that Perpetuate His Ideas" by Suzanne Youngerman. The article was published in the journal of CORD [Congress on Research in Dance] in 1974. The photocopy was made c1974. Before the photocopy was taken, the article had been annotated with a reference for the publication it came from; annotations made c1974. - Further notes about the work and research of Drid Williams, made c1970s.
