DescriptionThis sub-fonds consists of photographs, negatives, slides and illustrations of Friedrich Froebel, his family and contemporaries, and 19th century Froebelians; Sites Associated with Froebel; Froebel Educational Institute Sites and Buildings; Froebel Educational Institute People; Froebel Educational Institute Events; Froebel Educational Institute Schools; Nineteenth Century Kindergartens and Schools; Twentieth Century Kindergartens and Schools; Children at Work and Play; and the Ron Faulkner Opportunity Class Research. Of note, many photographs are copies; date spans reflect dates of original photographs, not the dates of the copies. Also, the photographs contain many duplicate copies; the total quantity of unique photographs is unknown. See FACS Photograph Inventory for a list of individual photographs and photographs that have been grouped together as the result of being created, received, or used in the same activity (i.e., photograph albums, photographs used together in an exhibit, photographs processed together). The list includes information about subjects of photographs, photograph highlights, types of photograph, accompanying text, photograph creators, locations of photographs and condition of photographs. Photograph description was collected by student assistants Emily Cornelius-Field and Marie Sundt.
