DescriptionThis series consists of pamphlets, correspondence and student work on the history of the following places and people: Christian, Countess of Devonshire; Digby Stuart College; Downshire House; Grove House Ice House; Grove House Theatre; Grove House; Heveningham Hall, home of Sir Joshua Vanneck who also owned Grove House; James Wyatt; Knebworth; Lyne Stephens Mausoleum; Lyne-Stephenses; Mrs. Smith of Mount Clare; Roehampton Chapel; Roehampton Parish; Roehampton Village; Roughampton Great House and other houses in Roehampton Grove; Stained Glass Window in the Art Room at Froebel Educational Institute; Templeton (history and historic building assessment); and William Burn, architect of alterations and additions at Grove House. It includes an unpublished short story in manuscript titled "The History of Jenny Spinner, the Ghost of Knebworth House, Written by Herself," circa 1910s, and correspondence between the following people: Miss Jebb and Miss Davies of Froebel Educational Institute and Mother Davidson of Digby Stuart College regarding Grove House, 1950s; and Peter Weston and Bridget Ford regarding Grove House, 2001. It also includes a letter from Lady Swaythling and a letter from Sybil Bedingfeld. Includes original photographs.
