| Description | The file consists of nine notebooks of various sizes related to ballet, ballet dancers and performances or various ballet companies and Sadler's Wells Ballet in particular, as well as its predecessor Vic-Wells Ballet Co (Vic-Wells Ballet was renamed in 1939). Great care has been taken to the general layout and positioning as well as inscription.
"Ballet Magazine": folder-style scrapbook; illustrated articles from magazines "Illustrated" and "Picture Post", "British Opera", "Everybody's" and other sources dating from 1939 - [?1950]. The volume includes press cuttings relating to Moira Shearer's wedding to Ludovic Kennedy in 1950. Inscribed 'K.M. Collingwood 1946' on the inside.
"Scrapbooks No. 1 - 4" and "Vic-Wells Ballet Co. 1935 onwards" [?1951] and "Ballet scrapbooks" [?1942] - 1950: magazine and press cuttings from various, often un-named and undated sources. One scrapbook includes press cuttings relating to Margot Fonteyn's wedding to Dr. Roberto Arias in 1955. A further scrapbook has been inscribed on the inside 'Monica Collingwood.' |
