DescriptionThe photographs in the album were taken in the c1860s-c1890s. (The album also contains what appears to be a photograph of a painted portrait of a man; this painting was created in the early-19th Century and then photographed in the late-19th Century.) The album was compiled in the c1890s. Most of the photographs appear to be of [Richmal Crompton's] relatives. However the album also includes photographs of friends of [Richmal Crompton's] relatives, as well as photographs of the actors Henry Irving and Ellalene Terris [Ellaline Terriss]. The album has been annotated to give names of some of the people in the photographs; these annotations were made [by Richmal Ashbee? niece of Richmal Crompton] in the mid- to late-20th Century.
