Administrative HistoryNora taught at a primary school after leaving Whitelands and continued teaching until her marriage in 1937 to George Covington, a fellow teacher. During WWII she and George, and their daughter Mary, born 1940, were evacuated with a party of boys from George’s school to Yeoford in Devon. They remained billeted on a dairy farm for the duration of the war. On their return to Mitcham George became head teacher of a junior school in Kingston, Surrey, but died in 1964 aged 58. Nora returned to teaching in a primary school in Mitcham until her retirement in 1975.
